Artist’s Perspective
This piece is rooted in my fascination with how we experience the world from within our own spaces. Working from a photographic reference, I used acrylic to build up light and shadow, allowing the view outside to glow with a sense of invitation. The window becomes both a literal frame and a metaphor for the boundaries between self and world—a recurring theme in my figurative work. My aim was to capture the emotional resonance of a simple, contemplative moment.
The original image is from a photo shoot. For the photo, I chose to make the image quite dark. For the painting, I edited the tone and clarity to create a new reference photo.
The challenge was to render the delicacy of lace and the warmth of sunlight without losing the immediacy of the gesture. The result is a painting that feels both timeless and contemporary.
